The Hackett Zone is two men’s unique perspective on the National Football League and the players, coaches, executives and hangers on there in. We produce a semiweekly podcast during the NFL season reviewing the weeks’ news, games and saying foolish things in the hopes of entertaining ourselves and, occasionally, you, the masses. We also blog, tweet and report on the events of the day when news warrants or when we’re not feeling lazy.
The site is dedicated to the great Paul Hackett, former offensive coordinator of the New York Jets and current quarterback’s coach of the Oakland Raiders. Mr. Hackett is a man who recognized the Red Zone (the area of the field inside the opponents 20 that teams consider the “scoring” area) was too limiting. That there should be just as much of an emphasis on what your offense does inside the opponents 30. The Jets then began keeping internal statistics on how often the team scored in “The Hackett Zone”…and a legend was born!!!
